Welcome to the VPL Foundation

Rooftop Remix 2026—Where Play Meets Purpose!

Join us on Friday, August 21, 2026 for a special evening at Central Library in support of Vancouver’s youngest learners.

Together, we’ll raise $80,000 to build Early Learning Spaces — vibrant, interactive spaces at VPL branches that engage children aged 0-5 in play-based literacy development.

Why This Matters

The most significant periods of development happen at the very beginning of life. What children learn about reading before they enter formal schooling is a powerful predictor of their future success.

Early Learning Playgrounds are more than play spaces — they’re where:

– Young minds build vocabulary, phonemic awareness, and narrative skills through imaginative play.

Parents and caregivers connect, learn, and discover how to support their child’s literacy journey.

– Children develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and social-emotional competencies.

Families find a free, safe, welcoming space to explore and grow together.

Research is clear: children learn primarily through play.

You can help VPL build more of these spaces at branches across Vancouver, ensuring every child, regardless of background, has access to the foundation they need for readiness for school and lifelong learning.

Your Impact

Funds raised through Rooftop Remix will directly support Early Learning Spaces at VPL branches, providing free, accessible play-based literacy programming for families across Vancouver.

Last year alone, VPL’s early years programs reached over 134,000 children and caregivers — but we know there are still many young learners waiting for their chance to thrive.
